The Class System

The class system is an interesting certainty in America today..in the upper classes, education and position in life and community are stressed to the point where they'll do anything to keep their lineage from slipping into the depths of the middle or lower classes. God forbid if they should mingle in any way...unless they're writing a book about the struggles of the unfortunate. Then it's a must(try it for a while) in order that they "have the full experience of the have-nots)... give me a freakin break! The upper classes will never know what the lower classes have to endure..whether it be socio-economical, psycological, or any emotional implications of being poor or just scraping by and how it impacts a persons whole being, their families and their standing in life. The only way a wealthy person could truely understand the full implications of hardship of the poor is if they themselves came from poor...when I say poor, I'm talking about people, and there are millions of them in the United States today, 2-14-2008, that live on less than 23, 000 dollars per year before taxes. So, that means in "real" income about 18,000 per year...if not less. I remember seeing a news story on tv about 20 years ago about a New York city representative who said she was going to live in a New York city apt for one month so she could relate to the people who lived on minimum wage. She was sure it could be done and she was going to prove it. She lasted less than 3 weeks (she said it couldn't be done)and I never heard another word about this woman representative again. This is what I'm talking about...she obviously had enough money to live on...now...what would happen to her if she really had to endure life on minimum wage? Not because she wanted to, but because she had too? Because she was too psycologically beaten down or uneducated to help herself..to pull herself up by the bootstraps and do better for herself! Those who "have" in America have forgotten about those who "have not". Instead they have created a system of continuous degradation of the human condition.
